My Maga

Last year on this day my beloved Maga (grandma) passed away from breast cancer. She was only 64 and she was one of my best friends. I still think about her everyday, and miss her so much. Today I'm trying not to think about sad things, but remember all of our good memories and things that she taught me.

Here are just a few things I learned from Maga:

How to make an entrance.
How to have a good smelling home (lots of candles, flowers, and perfume)
That it is ok to be yourself.
How to be a good friend.
There is no such thing as too much holiday decorations.
How to shop.
That it is a good thing to enjoy reading.
That maybe sometimes it's ok to keep your opinion to yourself.
The importance of a good makeup mirror, and good makeup.
How to make pretty bows.
How to throw a good party.
How to be an amazing person.
How to make the best chocolate chip cookies.
How to love someone.
How to take care of flowers.
How to organize.
How to decorate.

I hope I am making Maga proud.

What is your favorite thing about fall?I love the change in the weather, the smell of the air, fall clothing, pumpkin seeds and pumpkin pie. I pretty much love everything about fall!

Blake, didn't anyone tell you that you don't do a backless, deep V, and a high slit dress all together. You choose one! Or maybe I just hate the hair..but really, you could do so much better!Do you see the string holding on for dear life? I mean you might as well just wear a bikini. Might I also mention that I didn't really like Leighton's look either..I would LOVE this, if only there was material through that cut out. It looks like a figure skating outfit.Faves..

I don't know if it's my new-found love for her, but I thought she outdid many of the actresses last night.

Debra Messing looked gorgeous too!Heidi, being this pregnant, and looking this great should be impossible!I think January Jones made one of the bolder choices and it works!Did you watch last night? What did you think?

Gaga

Is anyone else getting a little sick of her antics? Hey, I'm all for wild outfits and taking a risk...once in a while.. I feel like Gaga has created a trap for herself. Her outfits have gotten so crazy, that she certainly couldn't walk down the street in a tee shirt and jeans or we'd all have a heart attack/not recognize her. Let's take a walk down memory lane, shall we?

She started off with a great eye, with innovative but wearable pieces. I miss this Gaga! I actually love some of these outfits!

That evolved into leaving the house in underwear. Now she's in full blown costume that is utterly impractical. I'm all for high fashion, but what statement is she trying to make?

She almost had me with this Jean Paul Gaultier creation. Gaga, sometimes it's ok to only use one accessory. Plus she couldn't even move her neck!

What do you all think? Too much or to die for? I still love her, I just wish she would tone it down a notch..On a side note, the Emmy's are on tonight so I can't wait to see what everyone will be wearing!

Giuliana & Bill

Have you watched this show? When I first heard about it I rolled my eyes..another celeb reality show, c'mon. I watched it because nothing else was on and now I am obsessed. They are seriously an awesome couple. I love seeing celebrity couples who are actually in love. Giuliana is hilarious, and I love Bill trying to give his business advice all the time. You must watch it! It's on Wednesday's at 9 on the Style network.

September 11

Can you believe it's been eight years? I can't. I still remember the day as if it was yesterday. I was a freshman in high school and I was home "sick", but really I was skipping because it was school picture day and I had nothing to wear. My family still didn't have cable at the time and I was flicking through the channels to find something to watch. I didn't understand why every news channel was showing this building on fire. I didn't even know what the World Trade Center was, and certainly not what being a terrorist meant. I got bored of seeing this burning building on every news channel (still unaware why it was important) and put in a recording of the VMA's. It wasn't until my mom called the eye doctor's office that she found out and came in screaming to me that the World Trade Center was bombed by terrorists. Light bulb! So that was the burning building. I just thought it was a fire. If only it was that simple. Our lives have been forever changed. May we never forget this day.

I love board games..and I can get very competitive! My faves are Apples to Apples, Taboo, and Scattergories. Although you don't have to twist my arm to play any game!

Welcome September!

Yayyyy September is here! That means we are that much closer to crunchy leaves, carving pumpkins, wearing boots, apple cider, pumpkin pie, scarves, and much more fall goodness. It's officially my favorite season.

P.S. I'm having so much fun with my second graders. They never cease to amaze me with their stories!I'm still adjusting to waking up early and trying to get into gear with a work out routine, but so far so good! This semester will fly by...
