Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids was the perfect movie for a girls night out. I don't think I've laughed so hard at the movies in a long time. While I'm not quite sure if it is worthy of a Hangover comparison, it had several moments of greatness. (Plane ride to Vegas anyone?) Did you see it yet? What did you think?

Something Borrowed

After months of anticipation, I saw Something Borrowed this past weekend. I wanted to love it, but sadly, it was extremely disappointing. My best friend and I were cringing throughout the movie. Emily Giffin somehow manages to make you root for Dex and Rachel in the book, but I found myself rooting for a different ending. John Krasinski was by far the best part of the film (he sort of makes me want to watch The Office). Kate Hudson also impressed me as Darcy. All in all, it was a bummer to see one of my favorite book couples have zero chemistry on screen. Did you see it this weekend? Thoughts?

ps. if you want to see a good book to movie adaptation go see Water for Elephants. Amazing.

Reading and Watching

The chilly weather has been the perfect excuse to do some reading and cross two more movies off my Best Picture list:

Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
The Kids Are All Right
The King's Speech
127 Hours
The Social Network
Toy Story 3
True Grit
Winter's Bone

I absolutely loved The Fighter. Christian Bale deserves all the recognition that has been coming his way. I highly recommend this film. I wish I could say the same for True Grit. It was entertaining enough, though I don't think I would watch it again. While I don't have anything negative to say about the movie, I suppose I'm just not a Western film gal. As of right now, The Fighter and The King's Speech are my favorites. Four more to go!

I also finished The Girl Who Played With Fire. Thank you guys for motivating me to stick with the series because I loved it. Unlike the first book I was hooked from the start. I found this story so much more riveting and finished it in days. I can't wait to get my hands on the final book!

Have you read or watched anything good lately?

Something Borrowed

It seems like just about every good book is turned into a movie. Not that I'm complaining, I love to see my favorite characters hit the big screen. Something Borrowed is one of my favorite books and I hope this movie does the story justice.

Have you read Something Borrowed? Will you see it in theaters?

My Top 10 Chick Flicks

I have to admit, I actually like Valentine's Day. I know a lot of people think it's some lame Hallmark holiday, but what is so terrible about celebrating love? So for the next week or so I will be posting some Valentine's ideas. I'm going to start with a list of my favorite chick flicks/romantic films to help get us in the spirit of love. I tried to rank these in order but it's so hard because they all have a soft spot in my heart!

1. The Notebook 2. Titanic3. Dirty Dancing4. Tristan and Isolde
5. Grease6. Pride and Prejudice
7. You've Got Mail8. Love Actually9. When Harry Met Sally10. My Best Friend's Wedding
I also have a soft spot for Wall-E, Jerry McGuire, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and 10 Things I Hate About You. What's in your top ten?

Where The Wild Things Are...

I had no idea they were making this a movie! Check out the trailer, it looks pretty cool. I used to love this book, actually I still do because let's face it I'm going to be a teacher and I read children's books all the time. I have yet to add this book to my collection though.

Bride Wars

Last night I saw Bride Wars with a couple girlfriends and I loved it. It was so hilarious and the perfect chick flick! I would highly recommend seeing it (with your bff of course). I can't wait for it to come out on dvd!

Step Brothers Review

Last night I saw Step Brothers with a couple friends. I laughed a lot, but overall the movie was just average. It seemed to be trying a bit too hard for laughs. It's worth watching but I'd wait a few more months to rent it if you haven't seen it yet.

On the other hand, I saw Batman last week...amazing! (as everyone has heard by now) if you haven't seen it yet go now!

Made Of Honor

Yesterday a friend and I went shopping for a bit and then saw Made of Honor. It was cute, but not one of my favorite movies. Although Patrick Dempsey sure looked amazing, I was a little disappointed with his promiscuous ways in the film. If you are a sucker for a romantic chick flick love story (like me!) you will like it, but definitely not love it.
