La Belle Vie

Lately, I've been thinking about the title of my blog. La belle vie. The beautiful life...If you know me at all, you know that I am obsessed with all things French. I have been enamored with the french language since I was in eighth grade. I visited France in the summer before eleventh grade and fell in love. I fell in love with the history, architecture, the people and culture, and even a boy. Going to France literally changed my life, and helped me to appreciate life so much more. So when I decided to start a blog I asked myself, what do I love the most? My answer? France and life. I always liked the phrase, la belle vie, and even considered getting it as a tattoo (for a very brief period of time)..I'm glad I just chose the blog name instead). So La Belle Vie was born.

I initially started this blog as a way to organize my thoughts and keep track of things I enjoy. It's evolved a lot since my first post, and I hope it continues to change and grow. Sometimes I think my posts are pointless and mindless. Sometimes I feel pressured to post everyday. Sometimes I don't think I'm creative enough. Sometimes I want to put more of myself into my blog, but then I realize my blog is a version of myself. It combines things I enjoy, things that make me happy, and things that inspire me which really echo into my life. If I post an outfit, I usually try to emulate that. If I post a recipe, I'll remind myself to attempt it. I think that is what's so great about blogs. Yea at times, we might want our blog (and lives) to resemble the cool graphic designers, or the hip fashionista's...But at the end of the day, we're all blogging to have fun, and each of our blogs and lives are beautiful and unique in their own ways.

Well said! My blog is actually titled la belle vie as well! I wasn't surprised to see that there was someone else out their with the same title. It's a saying that I've been fascinated with since high school! I almost considered a tattoo! Love your blog! It has been inspiring to me as I am just a newbie at this stuff!

I agree with you!
My blog is sometimes random stuff that inspire me or just catch my eye.
We shouldn't feel pressured to make amazing posts all the time, because like you said, it is a reflection of ourselves and it is about having fun.

I've been reading your blog for awhile and it's always inspiring.
Thanks!

=)

I've never been to France but I would love to go!

And I feel ya about the blogging thing. Sometimes I feel that I'm not intersting enough or maybe my blog is too impersonal...

But at the end of the day, it's my blog and the things are post come from my head so how is that not personal? lol

I love your blog by the way... :)

I get the same way about my blog... I feel pressured to post all the time and comment every single persons blog! But thats the great thing about blogging, you do it when you want! no one is expecting anything. Its an online diary you share with the world! :)

well said linds. i totally agree and i have a feeling a lot of bloggers feel the same way. since its an expression of ourselves and supposed to be creative, we shouldnt put pressure on ourselves!

very well said. i think its important that our blogs are a reflection of who we actually are. i feel that too many blogs are just fake people trying to make their lives seem different than they actually are.

ps. i think we chose our blog names the same way. i studied in florence and when choosing a blog name i new it had to be something italian to remind me of my amazing time in italy and also the amazing times ahead.

Great perspective. It reminded me that I started blogging to document my life for me which is good to remember when I feel like I only have about 2 regular readers:)
