Dilemma
I need some advice and I know you guys will help me out. So I've been working at this Montessori School all summer and I really enjoy it. It's a pretty laid back job where I get to play with kids all day. Well, I was hoping to get a full-time teaching job this fall, but none of the 66 school districts I've applied to have called me back for an interview (only 4 were actively hiring). I'm 99% sure that I'm returning to subbing, which I did in the winter and loved. I think it would be the best choice to get into the schools next year or snag a full-time sub job. Fellow teachers, do you agree that this is the best choice? If there's one thing that makes me anxious it's quitting jobs. What do I say and when do I tell them? I feel guilty! Help!

I'm not sure what you were doing at the Montessori school but I think you should definitely keep subbing! That's a great way to get your foot in the door :)
I know how you feel about applying for so many jobs and not hearing anything back...it's so stressful!

There's definitely a benefit to long term subbing--a place that feels like home, an opportunity to wiggle into a permanent position, etc. The only problem is whether or not the Montessori school has benefits or not. I just got my first teaching job, and I'm so lucky that I have good benefits because they were toooo expensive!
I completely agree that subbing is the best way to get in on long term subbing and eventually teaching positions. Is it possible to remain part time at Montessori? Although it is an income, I would still say that subbing is a step towards elementary school teaching. Good luck with everything!!
