The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I finally finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. It was really difficult to get into. There were so many backstories and characters that didn't seem to make sense. It wasn't until I was more than halfway through that I was hooked. While I'm no literary snob by any means, I found the prose to be dull. (Was this due to translation? Did anyone else notice this?) I wish I wrote down how many times coffee and sandwiches were mentioned. While it wasn't the worst book I've ever read, and certainly not the best, I think it is worth a read. Be prepared for some heavy topics though. I will be reading the next two books in the series. Here's to hoping for a better outcome (with a less predictable ending)!

I agree, the start is sooo boring, the middle is absolutely amazing but I also found the end a bit too long too. The Girl Who Played with Fire is much better as it get's going straight away and I've yet to read the 3rd one...

I have tried reading this book, but couldn't get into it! I know I'll try again, but I'm thinking part of the translation is what's making it difficult and dull in a way...

It took a while for me to grasp all the characters and plot line but, once I did, I loved it. And I've read the next one, too.

I would agree with you that its not the best book I've ever read (as many seem to claim), but it was worth the read, for me.

I was the same way, the first 70 pages were super slow.

Ohhh what an intriguing recap Linds; I think I need to read this now despite the slow beginning and dull prose :) It's on my list of books to read hehe Happy Friday love xo
